Setting up your FLEXlist

To set up your own FLEXlist you need to go to the homepage and fill out the form. You can give your list a name and choose from one of our ready-to-use lists. Then enter the personal code and click 'Create now!'.

You will now see your FLEXlist. If you choose a ready-to-use list, you are ready to go, otherwise you will need to add some fields to your list. A field is just like a column in a table. For example in an addressbook the fields could be: name, address, city and e-mail.

For each field you need to enter a name and a type. For most cases the simple text is sufficient. If you want to add larger text, you will need the "Long text" type. The Date, Number and Link types speek for itself. If you want to have a field with only a few possible values, you need the 'choice' type. If you choose this, you can enter the possible values, seperated by '|'.

How do I add an Item to a list?

To add a new item in your FLEXlist, simply click 'Add item!'. (located at the bottom right) Now fill in the form that has just appeared below the list. Then click 'Save item' and your item is added to the list.

What to do if my list gets full of old items?

If you use your list as a todo item, it will get full of done items. To prevent this from cluttering your list you can use the 'archive' option. To archive an item check the checkbox in front of the items you want to archive and click the [archive] button at the bottom. To immediately archive an item after editing click 'Save and Archive'

How can I delete my list?

Click on the white arrow next to the list name to open the drop-down menu. This menu has an option 'Delete List'. Click it and confirm your action. The list and all of the data in it will now be deleted forever.

Can I use an existing list as a template for a new one?

Yes you can! To use your list as a template click the white arrow next to the list name to open the drop-down menu. Now click on 'Copy this list'. This will bring you back to the list creation page. Choose a name for the new list, enter the captcha and hit the create button. Now you should have an exact copy of the structure of your list. (without the data of course)

Will you stay around?

FlexLists is online since 2006 and we plan to keep it online for many more years. Our operation is self-funded so there are no investors breathing down our neck. Furthermore FlexLists is a critical application in our day to day business.

Is it really free?

Yes, it is. We can offer FlexLists for free because it benefits from the resources that we acquired for other projects. In the future we may also offer a paid version, but a free version will stay available.

Can I search specific fields?

Yes you can by using "column name":"your keyword" as a query.

Furthermore you can combine parts of queries using AND and/or OR. e.g.:
status:Busy OR status:"Not started"
you can also exclude certain parts e.g.
for columns with spaces in them you need to put quotes around the name e.g.
"assigned to":Michiel AND -status:Done

How can I sort items?

You can click the header of each column to sort the table by that column. You can click it again to sort it in the opposite direction. If you have sorted your list by a specific column, you can return to the default 'by last change' by clicking the green arrow in the top left of the table header.
